Our Mission

To build a sustainable community project where adult volunteers, mentors, children and teens can benefit by participating in ranch activities centered on the rescue and rehabilitation of neglected, abuse and unwanted horses. Through the medium of Equine Assisted Psychotherapy and Equine assisted Growth and learning, the sanctuary promotes the physical and psychological health, happiness and well being of horses, children, adolescents, families, adults, and elders.

We provide the structure, knowledge, skills and resources to help people help themselves.

How do Horses Help?

The Horse is a special social animal who can act as mirror and metaphor for many common human issues. Horses facilitate self-awareness in a deep and profound way. Because of their unique nature, they offer humans many opportunities not easily found elsewhere

  • To unite unconditionally with another human being
  • To open up and revel oneself in a quick and safe way
  • To receive direct and immediate feedback

These  rich new insights, skills and  successes gained in the horse arena transfer into and enhance the participant’s everyday life in profound and life altering ways.

There is something about the outside of a horse that is good for the inside of a man”.............Winston Churchill

CASA ( Court Appointed Special Advocate)

Close to 200 children had a Court Appointed Special Advocate last year. Every one of these children has been physically or sexually abused, neglected or abandoned. When the Juvenile Court has determined that a child must be removed from his or her home to avoid further danger, the impact on the child can lead to an increased sense of vulnerability, helplessness and confusion that can stay with them a lifetime.

CASA kids need you help!

Society needs to give these children a chance to break the chain of child abuse and grow up to be good citizens and caring parents.

Willow Pond Ranch is partnering with CASA of Santa Cruz County to provide a meaningful experience for ongoing groups of children.

These groups will have the opportunity to connect with adult mentors along with a Psychotherapist and the horses at the ranch in a structured therapeutic program. We need your financial support to help sustain and grow this program to help in the recovery and healing of  these children.

Our goal is to raise $20,000, to provide a year long program for these children.

Won't you please help make a difference in a child's life?
